Dr P.V.A. Davies - Peter
BVSc, M Med Vet
Peter has been an active, practising veterinarian for over 55 years. He started out in Nelspruit in a mixed animal practice which he ran for 11 years. Thereafter he joined the Meat Board where he planned, promoted, executed and managed the National Pig Health Scheme while obtaining his M Med Vet degree. In 1977 he started his own private consulting practice which culminated to serve a single species namely pigs. The practice grew and in 1991 it became known as Charles Street Veterinary Group. In 1999 he sold his shares, consulted part time and pursued training at the Glasgow Veterinary College as a Veterinary Surgeon Meat Hygiene Official. In 2004 he founded his second pig consultancy practice which during the end of 2010 grew into the Green Veterinary Group Practice.
Peter is a cornerstone in the pig industry. In 1992 he was awarded a gold medal by the South African Pig Producers Organisation for services rendered to the South African Pig Industry. In 2007 a citation from the South African Veterinary Association was bestowed upon Peter in recognition of meritorious contributions he made to the Veterinary Profession.
Today he is a walking and talking swine fundi. He keeps busy with visiting clients, mentoring new veterinarians, writing various articles and promoting S.A. Livestock G.A.P. quality assurance scheme. If you have any questions regarding pigs feel free to ‘Ask Peter’ and he will happily assist.
Dr J.J. Botha - Koos
BScAgric (Hons), BVSc
Koos completed his agricultural studies in 1975 and worked in Department of Agriculture as an Extension Officer in the Free State. During this time completed his post graduate studies in animal nutrition. In the middle eighties he obtained his veterinary degree at Onderstepoort. During his years as a veterinarian he gained experience in various fields: he started as a companion animal veterinarian, worked in meat hygiene, consulted as a veterinary pig farm consultant working at the Meat Board and was technical manager at Elanco Animal Health for their production animal products.
Koos is part of Green Veterinary Group Practice since end 2010, practising as a pig veterinary consultant. He applies all his expertise obtained throughout his career to maximise efficiency on pig farms. Furthermore he is the orchestrator of S.A. Livestock G.A.P. quality assurance scheme.

Kim Rushman
Kim has over twenty years of experience in managing a pig consultancy practice. She started at Charles Street Veterinary Group and has been with GVG for the past two years. Kim takes sole charge of everything and anything concerning the everyday run of the practice. She is much loved and appreciated among all our clients, suppliers and veterinarians.
